Purple Rain

Purple Rain.  These two words have a symbiotic relationship thanks due to Prince and the album and movie he starred in about a young rock star and his struggles and rise to fame.  I remember watching this movie for the first time and falling in love with Prince's music and the color purple, which remained my favorite color for many years.
So on a recent excursion through town I was thrilled when I happened upon this great purple blouse.  Given my recent polka dot pants debacle from F21 (here) I was skeptical on purchasing anymore clothing items but I am so far pleased with this blouse.
The funny thing is that before heading to F21 I was at the cosmetics counter at Nordstrom browsing through things and happened upon a nail polish from Deborah Lippman called "Call Me Irresponsible".  Now, anyone who knows Frank, Frank Sinatra that is, knows this song and to have a nail polish named after it is great, especially that it was a certain awesome shade of purple.
When paying for the blouse at F21 in passing I thought that it might match the nail polish.  It wasn't until I got home that I saw that they are a perfect match.
In this outfit I didn't feel like going too matchy matchy so I have on another great purplish shade by Orly that I loved so much I put it on my toes.... and who was talking about matchy matchy?
Thinking about the movie Purple Rain had me thinking about the vibe of the 80's and the heavy use of gold chains and door knocker earrings so I knew that I wanted to layer on the gold accessories.  These leopard print pants I got a few weeks back at Zara just gave this outfit the "wild" punctuation it needed.
Have an amazing day!  Wear some purple.

  11. Heya darling, you define the word glamorous! I love how you paired purple with leopard and the flash of gold accessories, this is a stellar outfit, I bet you stopped some traffic in it! I really need a pair of awesome animal print pants too. Would you believe that I don't know any songs by Prince! I randomly heard Purple Rain on VH1 once or twice but thats about it!

  12. Dana...this outfit I could totally see on Donatella Versace or Roberto Cavalli's wife. I don't know what it is but the purple and the leopard are two colours that I associate with those two lines. I love it, and call me irresponsible is a great nail polish colour. I however being the cheapskate that I am prefer to spend no more than $4 on polish... And I really REALLY want mermaid's dream from Deborah.

  29. Ahhh! You look beautiful in purple!! And I love the backstory for how this all brilliantly came together! Its definitely one of the reasons I come to your blog. You have such fun stories behind these outfits. You really put a life to your clothes. This one is definitely a testament to that. Especially in thinking of gold chains and door knockers earrings! Lol You look so awesome in this outfit. And I love the shade of purple that you went with for this outfit. It really makes it all pop in a different way than the matchy purple would have probably done. :)
