Duds & Dots

When I purchased this shirt (I told  you about it here) I knew exactly what I wanted to pair it with.  These polka dots print pants (I told you about them here).  In my mind the outfit came together perfectly but of course, in my last post I had to jinx myself and boast so you know things didn't go according to plan.  I should have known when getting dressed the bottom button from the pants popped off before even buttoning it.  But I soldiered on.  So I was in Outfit Happy Land and my clutch fell from my hand and when I bent to pick it up.. oh, come one, you know what happened next, the inside seams of the left leg from the pants came totally apart!  Devastated (I have been wishing for polka dot pants for a while), I sat down on a nearby bench to check the damage and ziipppp, the other inside seam fell apart.  Now, mind you, these are by no means tight pants so the seam falling apart was 100% due to poor material and poor tailoring.  Just when I was getting into this F21-can't-do-no-wrong-vibe.  This item was a total dud.  So I bravely soldiered on (again) and took a few pictures.  But this explains the pouty face and the strategically placed clutch.
On an aside, I purchased this design Prada glasses some time ago because I liked the quirky style of the frames.  But I have a penchant for placing my sunglasses on top of my head and the quirky loop on the sunglasses kept getting stuck in my hair.  So back they went.  A week ago while out shopping I bumped into an old friend who was managing a local boutique.  While talking I noticed these in the case and thought, for $5 I can wear them if I want (tangles included) and if I put them up and don't wear them for months at a time I won't feel sorry for having spent a pretty penny on them.   Besides, my son loves them.  He calls them "Willy Wonka Glasses".  So this post was going to be called Willy Wonka Glasses & Dots.  But that just didn't seem (no pun intended -haha) right.
Sorry for the long winded story.  Just had to get it all out!
Have you ever had a wardrobe malfunction?

  1. Oh no on the wardrobe malfunctions! That is too bad about the pants because they are seriously so cute! I once bought a shirt and the next day the seams were coming out, so I had to sew them back myself. That was not fun. I love those sunnies on you! :)

  9. I love this look Dana! My Mom actually tried to convince me to get the same polka dot pants but it didn't fit me right so they went back to the rack! Sorry to hear the pants didn't quite hold up.... And I also have the same watch as you do...I can't tell if yours is the 2 toned? That's the one I have ;)

So I did good. I went to Banana Republic yesterday. I tried on 2 dresses, the one with long sleeves I decided I didn't need since it was similar to one I bought from Hale bob recently. The strapless dress was nice, but I don't know Dana....I wasn't 100% absolutely sold on having to have it! I can't wait to see what you got from Zara, I am waiting for their sale...

  10. Oh, dear.. I'm sorry to hear about the pants! I am a firm believer of we get what we pay. Forever 21 has nice stuff but the quality, I'm not so sure. But on the other hand, I thought the top and bottom comes together before I red on! The contrast pairing is a good idea :)

  23. Omg, what a drag on your pants! Those are insanely adorable and it's pretty obvious that they are loose fitting, harem-like pants. On the up side, had they not come undone this really did make for an awesome look. I love polka dots on polka dots with the colors being swapped between the two! And the pop of pink is a great touch! That clutch is eye candy! And don't think I didn't notice your adorable ring :)
I'm the same way with sunglasses. I only buy $5-$15 pairs usually. My Armani Exchange ones are the only exception in my collection of sunnies. I paid $80 for those and I wear them a decent amount to where I don't feel guilty. Thankfully they don't pull my hair like some of my others do. That is so annoying!
    P.s. I liked your pun ;) haha

  25. Hahahaha, I'm sorry about your pants but loved the story--I once had the opposite happen, and had an item literally NOT come off of me. I had gotten a (cheap) romper, decided to snap a few quick pics to tweet about to some fellow fashion bloggers that wanted to see it, and when I reached around to unzip it so I could get changed and go to work...the zipper was stuck. And I mean stuck-stuck. Stuck stuck stuck stuck stuck. And I was pretty sure I was going to have to go to work that morning in a ruffled, mini-short (SHORT) and completely inappropriate ensemble that would make any 4-year old, romper-wearing-toddler jealous.

So! Total panic ensued, and thank GOD for scissors. The romper was ruined, but lesson learned. Sometimes bargain buys can be dangerous, and I think we've ALL had to use a strategically placed clutch (or jacket, or cardigan, or umbrella...or husband) once or twice in our lives! ;P
